You Can Make It Through The Rain

I saw this picture of Katy Perry on People StyleWatch and thought umbrellas can be fun too. So I like to share some of the things I saw while looking for fun umbrellas to use in this rainy weather.

DESIGNER UMBRELLAS
Seriously, who would even use this in public when it has the whopping price tag that could buy an island? (I was kidding.)

Burberry Umbrella- $150 saksfifthavenue.com
When you see this pattern, you can always tell that its Burberry.

Hermes Umbrella-$460  usa.hermes.com
This is just a plain old red one. I still can't believe its price.

Cath Kidston -£28 johnlewis.com
I love Cath Kidston's designs and this umbrella is so cute!

Kate Spade-$75 katespade.com
Kate Spade is one of my favorite designers(although I haven't bought anything from the brand) because I think that her designs suit my style.

CUTE UMBRELLAS

yummy
for the postman
you'll never get lost

I'd love to have these cute umbrellas as I have a boring checkered one.

Makeup Brands/Products That I Want To Try

I was inspired by MakeupSavvy to do this. If you want to see her version, then click here.

I haven't tried that many products to be honest because I have been really into cosmetics about a year ago, which makes me sort of a newbie. I mainly use drugstore brands and I have just started expanding my horizon into the more high end ones.

If you want to know what they are, continue on.

9 Skin Habits to Quit

Yeah, yeah. We already know that smoking, staying up late and drinking too much affects our complexion. We also know that what we eat can make or break our skin. What else are we doing wrong? These habits might be the culprit:

CHOOSING THE WRONG PRODUCTS
Even if you religiously go on with your skincare routine, if you are using products that are not for your skin type, then it would be useless.  You must first know your skin type and then pick the products that are suited for your skin. Back then I was using a heavy moisturizer that was in a jar and that was not oil-free, and I kept wondering why my skin is breaking out. I did not realize that if you have oily skin you should use oil-free products. However, if you have dry skin, you should use products that are hydrating so you can avoid flaky skin.

LEAVING OUT BROAD SPECTRUM SUNSCREEN
Most of us only put sunscreen when we are going to swim or if its summertime, but in reality, we really must do it every day. This is the best way to keep our skin from getting discolorations and wrinkles, basically to fight skin aging. The minimum requirement is to put on SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen (blocks both UVA and UVB rays). If you are mostly indoors, reapply before going home at the end of a work/school day. When you are outdoors for an extra amount of time, you must reapply every two hours. I know it takes extra effort to do it but it’ll be worth it in the future.

SKIPPING THE NECK AND CHEST
These areas are exposed too, yet we seem to forget to include it in our routine. The skin in those areas are more delicate and just as exposed to photoaging. Notice that the signs of aging also appear in the neck? So next time, include your neck and chest when you apply your moisturizer, sunscreen and other products.

USING FILTHY BRUSHES
You can wind up having clogged pores and bacterial infections that might lead to blemishes.  I personally wash my brushes once a week (once every two weeks if I get lazy)with mild/baby shampoo and let them dry overnight. If you use lots of color like eyeshadow for example, you can buy brush cleansers and spot clean them before use.

OVEREXFOLIATING
Skincare experts and beauty advisors always stress the need to have a clean face to prevent having clogged pores and breakouts. However, too much cleaning or exfoliating can actually cause more oil production and spread bacteria.  I suggest doing it once or twice a week, depending again on your skin type.

NOT WASHING FACE AT NIGHT
I know that some nights can be really tough especially when you are really sleepy, but washing your face is really important to do before you go to bed. The combination of oil build up and makeup can lead to zits and clogged pores. Who wants that anyway?
POPPING ZITS
I admit that I do it at times, but afterwards, I feel guilty. Popping a pimple just pushes bacteria deeper into the pores, causing infection, scarring and prolonging the pimple’s life span. I mean instead of 3 days, it becomes a week or two. Also, bombarding it with harsh chemicals won’t really help because it can damage the skin and cause further irritation. What to do now? If you must use a spot treatment, do it once a day and most important of all, leave it alone.

WEARING OLD MAKEUP
Are you still using your one year old foundation? The rule here is, if you don’t use it, toss it. Bacteria spreads in there too and if you especially use your fingers, it can transfer to the makeup and also to the makeup sponges. Get rid of it if they smell funny, or if the consistency has changed.
USING YOUR PHONE
I’m not really saying that you should quit, but you should clean them too. If you are using a makeup removing wipe to remove you makeup, include your phone after you are done with your face. It’s like a 2-in-1 thing. Also, you should consider cutting down on your talk time or using earbuds instead.. Leaning your face against a phone can cause friction, occlusion, and heat, all of which can make you break out.

So, what are your thoughts?

Going Gaga over ChaCha

The new Benefit lip and cheek stain that is. I have read beauty blogs about this and everybody seems to rave about it.

The new Benefit Chachatint is an addition to their already famous line of lip and cheek stains which include Benetint and Posietint. It is described as mango-tinted, which is like a coral hue. It is $29 a pop which seems quite pricey for a stain, but this will last you forever because a little goes a very long way. Only a few dabs on each cheek and you will be good to go!

I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Have you tried it yet? What are your thoughts?

I have a very acne prone skin. I currently have blemishes and I think that my skin is at its worst state right now.--maybe cause its that time of the month!

10.Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No, but I heard mixed reviews about it. Some people love it and some hate it. I have heard and read that its very strong, and I dont want to try it.

MAKE-UP:
11.What foundation do you use?
I am currently using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and I am almost out so I am thinking of getting a different one so that I can try out different brands.

MAC Studio Finish concealer for blemishes

13.Do you know your undertone color?
Yes, I have a warm/yellow undertone.

14.What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I quite like them because of the effect that you get from it, but I am having a hard time putting it on.

15.Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, of course. But I dont stick to it every time, I usually extend it up to 5 months or until it smells different. But you should definitely toss it when the consistency is different and the scent has gone bad.

16.What brand of mascara do you use?
I currently use Covergirl's Lash Blast Fusion.

17.Sephora or MAC?
We dont have a Sephora here, but I would definitely pick Sephora because it has a lot of different brands.

Dazzle Review: LUSH Mask of Magnaminty

I bought this LUSH mask about a month ago because I was on a search for that green-colored face stuff that you see in movies. I wanted a skincare product that would leave a refreshing minty feeling and make my pores a little bit cleaner.

Well I think this is it.

What LUSH says:
"Big Green Giant of a Face and Back Pack. Deeply cleansing, toning, and exfoliating pepperminty mask. Refreshes and brightens all it touches."
My Experience:
I went to the LUSH store about a month ago and I immediately bought it because I thought that this could be the mask that I was hoping for. It is sort of a grayish green color with some soft beads in there (which I later found out that those were ground Aduki Beans). When you put it in your face, it really feels soothing and very cooling because of the peppermint in it. It evens feels more cooling when you store it in the refrigerator!

I usually put a nice thick layer of it on and leave it for 20-30 minutes or until it turns into a deep green color. I find that within this timeline, it really does its job of deep cleaning the face. Of course, after a while, the mask dries up and leaves you with a tight feeling that I always love because I feel that it is really working. I once left it on for 45 mins (don't recommend it) and when I washed it off, my face had marks on it like when you slept on one side for too long and when you wake up there are lines on your face!

This is the before and after picture. The one on the left is taken just after putting it on and the one on the right is after thirty minutes.

Afterwards, I wet my face and remove it using circular motions. In that way, you can also exfoliate your face with it. Its like a 2 in 1 product! I use it about 2-3 times a week.

I have been using it for a month now, and it has a shelf life of about 3 months. I bought it for 325PHP for a 125g tub. I noticed that it makes my face brighter and it makes zits smaller. Remember to use moisturizer afterwards because it dries up your skin. I really don't see a problem with that because I have oily skin, but those with dry skin might want to consider that when thinking of purchasing this product.

almost gone!
Final Thoughts:
Will I repurchase: Yes
Worth the money: Yes

Try this if you haven't already and let me know what are your thoughts!
